Cervical Cancer and HPV Testing:
How We Got Here

 

Session Description

This session will discuss in detail cervical cancer from prevalence and diagnosis to testing methods and cost as well as how the HPV vaccine fits into the equation. The session will also discuss how HPV testing is changing the guidelines for cervical cancer screening.

Target Audience

Laboratory Professionals, including Cytotechnologists, and related practitioners.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the role of HPV in cervical cancer
  2. Review history of the Pap test and HPV testing
  3. Present Cervical Screening Guidelines
  4. Share HPV result findings in a public health setting

The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® Program.

Credit Designation - Lab Professional, P.A.C.E.®

The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science's Professional Acknowledgement for Continuing Education (P.A.C.E.®) will provide 1.0 contact hour of credit.

Canadian Laboratory Professionals
P.A.C.E.® approved programs provide documented laboratory science related continuing education activity as required for maintaining continued competence for Canadian laboratory professionals.

This program has been approved for 1.0 P.A.C.E.® contact hour.

How to Obtain P.A.C.E.® Credit

Viewers are expected to complete the presentation before attempting to submit contact information and the session evaluation. Participants who successfully complete the program will be awarded 1.0 contact hour. ASCLS P.A.C.E.®  is accepted by the ASCP Board of Certification and all states including Florida and California as an approved provider for continuing education. ASCLS is an approved provider with CE Broker for Florida licensees and will submit attendance to CE Broker. To receive credit, the course must be completed between October 8, 2015 and Expired October 8, 2016
